Exit Strategy Romania

January 1st, 2007, the country of Romania joined the European Union. One of the conditions placed on Romania for entry into the EU was the requirment to close as many State operated Child Placement Centres as possible. A new Foster Care Program was put in place along with a transition plan that would see many children placed in smaller group homes.

Many of the children that we provided for through our Child Sponsorship Program have been withdrawn from our Program.

Children are being withdrawn almost on a daily basis and in a very short while there will no longer be a need to sponsor children in Romania. Some exceptions apply.

As part of our exit strategy around Child Sponsorship we have put in place a Family Sponsorship Program.

The family Sponsorship Program in Romania will help us continue our ministry to children.

Should your child be withdrawn you will be notified by our office and given an opportunity for a new sponsorship in Moldova or Ukraine.

You may wish at that time to sponsor a family from Romania. Family sponsorship begins at only $29.00 a month and allows you to care for, in many cases, more than one child.

Thank you for your patience and understanding as we continue to work on behalf of the orphaned and abandoned children of Romania.

Please do not hesitate to contact us if you require additional information.
